Devon Work Hub Network

Devon County Council is working to facilitate the development of a network of work hubs across the county of Devon, UK.

The main website for this project is: http://www.devonworkhubs.co.uk/

NEWS: Grant scheme launched (7th Nov 2011) to encourage work hubs in Totnes - check out information online

Research commissioned by Devon County Council (Workspace to Meet the Needs of Micro and Small Businesses in Devon) has shown that Devon’s market and coastal towns have the right qualities to support work hubs, including high numbers of self-employed people, active business networks and the quality of life that can attract small businesses who wish to work flexibly.

Further research commissioned by Devon County Council (Transform Work Hubs Report FINAL VERSION July 2011) investigated the potential for work hubs in six market and coastal towns across the county. In particular, the research focussed on the market demand for hubs and potential business models/delivery options in the towns of Totnes, Barnstaple, Newton Abbot, Ilframcombe, Exmouth and Axminster.

Having identified the top localities that have a demand for work hubs, work is now underway to define the offer and to start to develop a network of workhubs. It is anticipated that details of a grant scheme for work hub operators will be published in early November for pilot initiatives in Totnes and Barnstaple – see this post that has details of the draft proposal and a presentation.
