This page is started as Jeff Osborne's notes. As of 3-05-06 it hasn't been consolidated with other similar info in the coworking wiki or beyond. It's intended to be a starting point. Please cultivate, link, mark up, tear down, otherwise deconstruct/expand.
Proposed Service Types:
1.) Walk in service for common area.
- For common area desk spaces.
- Rates are slightly lower than advance reserved common area desk space.
- Availability subject to reservation schedule.
- You fill a space by connecting to the network and confirming your use of the space for a given time frame.
- Subject to max. room capacity constraint.
- Applies to reservations made on the spot, with service beginning immediately.
- Variable rates for peak hours and off hours (?)
2.) Reserved service for common area.
- For common area desk spaces.
- Rates slightly higher than walk-in rates.
- Variable rates for peak hours and off hours (?)
3.) Walk in service for private office space.
- Walk in rates are lower to reflect "perishable" nature of product.
4.) Reserved service for private office space.
- Reserved rates are higher than walk in.
- Does this pricing model make any sense?
- How do we set pricing to encourage advance reservations, while also trying to move empty spaces?
5.) Dedicated monthly private office space.
- Is this desired?
- How to make it secure?
- Is charging per sq ft. appropriate?
6.) Walk in service for conference room space.
- This could be popular for impromptu group conversations that would otherwise dominate the common area.
- What about conversations that only need 5-10 minutes?
- Does the conference room stay locked or unlocked?
- Can we operate efficiently on an honor system?
7.) Reserved service for conference room space.
- Level of service and cleanliness should be predictable and consistent.
- Conference space should offer a value and aesthetic that is consistent with the space as a whole.
- Projectors, conference calling equipment, and other add on's could really make a difference.
8.) Special event pricing.
- Should special events be allowed to displace the "regulars"?
- They're important to community building.
- Potentially a good source of revenue.
- Potentially a good source of publicity.
- Potentially generate higher maintenance costs (clean up, etc.)
