Introducing the Icebox Co-Labs!

Hatch Creative and Olive Creative have joined forces with SOFO Development to open a creative coworking space in downtown Louisville, KY. With over 5,000 sq. ft., 3 conference rooms, a full-featured photo studio, MAME Arcade Cabinet, Star Wars pinball machine and a ping pong table, you’ll wonder why you didn’t move out of your home office sooner. More info coming soon!

We’re still plugging away with construction, check the photo gallery to see our progress. We plan on taking our first co-workers in early Fall 2009. Come on by, we’re located at 217 E. Main St. in the Ice House Lofts building. We have funding and are getting ready to purchase desks! It's happenin'

More information can be found about Louisville's first coworking space here

Butchertown Pointe, a warehouse being renovated near downtown Louisville, is hosting coworking space beginning in early April 2009.

Between the turnout at an information meeting last week, e-mails I’ve received, and what we perceive to be a city teeming with independent workers, Butchertown Pointe’s developers believe the demand exists to dedicate space in the building for coworking.

Here are some details:

  • The cost will be in the range of $100 to $150 a month.
  • Unlike your gym, there won't be a long-term commitment (the whole point of coworking is to create a friendly, productive atmosphere of people who want to be doing what they are doing, where they are doing it at).
  • Butchertown Pointe will supply utilities, desks and chairs, and Internet access.
  • To keep costs low, coworkers will be on their own for services such as printing, faxing, and phone calls (although it's possible for us to add them later if there's an overwhelming desire to do so).
  • While the specific space will be allocated once there is a better estimate of the number of interested people, the area currently slotted for coworking is a loft with skylights. It's also next to the building's conference room, which can be rented by the hour (pictures of the construction site are at the end of this post). It also will have a lounge.
  • Coworkers will determine rules regarding use of the space (obviously within reason).

There's another informational meeting on March 29 at 2 p.m. for people who couldn't make the first one (or just want to check out the space again). When Butchertown Pointe's renovations are close to complete, there'll be an opportunity to tour the space and sign up.

And after we move in to our new coworking space in early April, we'll have a kick-off potlatch dinner.

I met with Steve Flores of CircleOne Design (www.circleonedesign.com) last week. They'd like to convert their space in the Mellwood Arts Center into a coworking space--it's a cool facility and would work great for coworking.

If you are interested in more info, please let me or Steve know. We hope to get started there soon!

Butchertown Pointe, a warehouse being renovated near downtown Louisville, is interested in hosting coworking space. I met with the developers last week—the building is perfect for coworking and they are on board with the concept.

Check Butchertown Pointe’s website (http://www.butchertownpointe.com/) to see renderings of the building. The building will be ready in March.

Interested? Then please join us for an informational meeting at Butchertown Pointe on Monday, Feb. 16 at noon.

1205 East Washington St.
Louisville, KY 40206

If you are interested, but can’t make the meeting, please e-mail me at zach@zacheverson.com. I also created a Louisville Coworking Meetup Group (http://www.meetup.com/The-Louisville-Coworking-Meetup-Group/) for this gathering.
