We are no strangers to the poor, penniless and downtrodden. If you are in between jobs or a budding entrepreneur looking to get your next gig off the ground, come and talk to us.

The Venue

The Change You Want To See Gallery hosts monthly programming convening at the intersection of art, technology, activism, and theory. Recent events include Glowlab’s Conflux Festival, ITP’s Tactical Media Conference, and presentations by The Yes Men, The Center for Tactical Magic, the Freegan activists, artist Giana Gonzalez, and filmmakers Astra Taylor and Jem Cohen.

Located at the intersection of Havemeyer and Metropolitan (84 Havemeyer, Brooklyn, NYC) - the space is one stop from Manhattan on the L train, a stone's throw from the J/M/Z, the G, and the w'burg bridge... And across the street from great watering holes, like the Spuyten Duyvil beer garden, and the Moroccan restaurant and night club Black Betty. In the three blocks surrounding Havemeyer and Metropolitan you'll find a flurry of eating establishments.

The arts collective Not An Alternative runs The Change You Want To See Gallery. It's a loft-style storefront with high ceilings, white walls and a modern look. The main room is roughly 18'x30', with frosted storefront windows that basks the room in natural light. During they day the room hosts coworking, and at night it is used for gallery events - talks, presentations, screenings, meetings, hack-a-thons, etc. Not An Alternative's studio and workshop is next door to the main room, and there's a residential room in the back of the space.

The space is newly renovated, and with two separate tables we can accommodate 15-20 workers. (Just check out photos from our "open house/ work at jelly" sessions.)

We're currently taking on new co-workers, and you’re invited to scope out the scene. Stop by and work from the space for a day to see how you like it. We'll waive the drop-in fee so you can test the waters.

You description above says to "leave the cats behind," but the photo shows a dog on the couch. I am highly allergic to animals. Is this place a haven for pets? I just relocated to Brooklyn from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I am searching for coworking environments that won't make me sick!
